Each package of Synthetic Silk is a 105" rope made up of 4 separate
cords. Each of the cords contains 39 fine threads. It is possible to
separate the fine silk threads in much the same way you would separate
embroidery floss. When 8 of the cords (39 strands each) are braided
together they make a braid that is about 6-8mm thick. The silk is cut
and packaged in Japan. The 105" length is perfect for braiding an
obijime, the tie that holds the obi in place over the kimono. One package of silk makes one necklace when you fold the 4 cords in half for a total of 8 cords.
Synthetic Silk is a rayon product. Colors are vivid and each has a beautiful sheen to it. The samples here do not show enough of the product to let you see how much the sheen adds to these colors.
