Learn Kumihimo braiding using this fun and exciting kit. The kit includes full color instructions in English that take you step-by-step through your first braid. Pictures show you every step. Braiding is done by the numbers so there is no chance you can get lost. Braiding is done on the kumihimo disc, using silken cord wound onto bobbins. When braiding is done, there is thread to bind the end of your braid, end caps for finishing and a clasp so that you can wear it.
The kit includes: instructions, kumihimo disc, bobbins, black silken cord, thread, end caps, jump rings and clasp.
You will need: scissors and some fabric glue (to glue on the end caps).
The kumihimo disc is a wonderful introduction to kumihimo braiding. It is not a substitute for the traditional marudai and bobbins, which can cost upwards of $150 to start. There are hundreds of kumihimo patterns that use 16, 32, 48 or more bobbins. This kit is an inexpensive way to learn kumihimo and see if you like it. If you do, you will want to move onto a marudai. But keep your kumihimo disc, it is a great way to try out new patterns quickly...or make up your own.
The picture shows a bright colored cord because it made a nice colorful picture, but your kit will have black cord in it. We tried doing colors and no one was happy. It was either the wrong color or the wrong shade of the color, so we put black in the kit. Black is a good basic color that most things look nice hanging from. If you want colors we have them for sale in the Braiding Cord section.
