Classes

Spring classes have been set!

Welcome to my studio! The following is April and May classes. The classes are small with a maximum of 6 students per class. This means lots of personal attention so that your success is guaranteed. The cost per class is $40. This includes instruction only. Once you email "karen@accentbead.com." I will respond with a confirmation email that includes a paypal invoice, a map to the studio and a list of supplies. There is no need to pay for supplies you already own. Feel free to raid your own stash or come play with mine.

Beginning Braiding on the Kumihimo Disk

Wednesday, April 13th 6PM - 9PM

For those who long to braid and want someone to explain how to get the most of of that silly white disk, this class is for you. The class requires only the desire to learn. We will start at the beginning and step by step teach you how to make the basic round braid into a lovely necklace in just one night. Most attendees will finish their first braid. If you have a pretty focal bead at home, now is the time to bring it.

Braiding with Beads

Saturday, April 16th 1:30PM to 4:30PM

For those with a clear understanding of how to make the basic round braid we will expand your horizons with the addition of beads. For this beginning session we will make a classic round bead bracelet from Size 6 beads. We will discuss the use of a central core and learn to recognize when to use them. This pattern is addictive. While working on this bracelet you will design your next several projects. And don't forget...today's bracelet can become tomorrows necklace!

The Laramie - Braiding around a soft core

Saturday, May 28 1:30PM to 4:40 PM

Learn how to braid around a stabilizing core. Tips and tricks to control the height and frequency of your ridges. You can decide to make a piece of jewelry or use the class to experiment with different combinations of cord and bobbins. The Laramie is a throwback to the once popular straw weaving technique. We've updated it to make it a part of your wardrobe.

Private Parties

Got a fun group of friends who want to learn kumihimo? Let's get them together and have a good time. Call 916-941-1104 to schedule your private class. You pick the day, the time and the braid! If daytime is your best time, let's get it on the calendar. If you only blossom at night, that will work too. Put together a group of 4 (minimum) to 6 friends. I'll provide the location and the class. It will be one of your best times!

Making the long drive for back to back classes? This area is loaded with great restaurants. From fast food to fine dining there is plenty of places to lunch in the vicinity. There is also a very nice Holiday Inn Express with very nice jacuzzi tubs just blocks away! So if you want to make a weekend of it, we've got you covered.
